As We Walk the Light House Trail

Roots grown,erosion bare,
holding fast, deeply entwined into earth
border the path.
Markers, guiding those who walk.

Opposing messages uttered
as death and life intertwine.
Dirt trail, worn by ancient travelers,
weary and lighthearted alike.

A coal colored serpent
slides across our path.
We inhale sharply,
and exhale subsiding fears.

Steps trodden on twisting path.
Gravel and sand crunch beneath soles.
Above, light and shadow mingle
dancing in the breeze.

Trail edges steep cliffs,
descends narrowly through woods,
and crests open meadows.
Onward, we walk, or ride strong shoulders.

No matter the time
or method of travel,
at path's end,
the house of light beckons us

with an amazing view!
