Beauty or Beast of the Season

 

Fall is in the air. Everywhere we go, we see it.

A tribute to beauty with vibrant autumn hues,

we google and gasp finding each tree more beautiful than the last.

When the sunlight penetrates the thinning leaves,

I grab the camera and shoot hundreds of frames.

 

Yet, in the back of my mind, a nagging feeling keeps tugging.

I know what is next.

The leaves fall.  The trees lay bare.

The warm days and cool evenings give way to biting winds and freezing temperatures.

Winter will come.

Trees will appear dead and I feel the dread.

 

 

 

But, I must remember that after the season of darkness,

after the time of winter death,

comes the triumph of spring,
the season of rebirth.
