When the Washing becomes Personal - Part I of 2

That week, the dishwasher was decommissioned.  A spring broke.  When my Drummer husband inspected the spring on the door, he noticed a leak.

Why do problems multiply?

With water turned off to the dishwasher, we return to kitchen sink washing.  Dishes pile high after each meal prep, after each meal eating.

Hands plunge into hot soapy water too many times to count each day.  Skin wears raw, cracked from the repetitive washings, and I am reminded of this scene when more valuable hands of another plunged into cleansing waters.

"Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands,
and that he had come from God and was going back to God, rose from supper.
He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist.
Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet
and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him."
John 13:3-5

  1. Beautiful photos and isn't it great how He reminds us of truth in the midst of the mundane. Oh, how I dislike doing dishes! Nice to meet you through WFW.

  3. This is a lovely passage, so humbling to read.

I actually enjoy washing dishes, especially when the sun in shining through the window and my girls are playing around me :)

  4. Lovely photos...

Washing dishes by hand is a daily thing around here, we have not owned a dishwasher since we left the US for the mission field seven years ago. It does give one time to contemplate and slows life down a bit.

    joy and blessings to you,
    Alida

  5. I do have a dishwasher but something I wash by hands and I've discovered the Lord can talk to you anywhere at anytime, even while scrubbing a pot :)
