When You Feel Like a Task Master...

...rather than a loving mother.

Did you brush your teeth?  with toothpaste?
Did you floss?

Did you practice playing/singing the music?

Did you wash your hands? with soap?

Did you {fill in the blank with current task}?

Every day, these questions depart from my lips.  They are important, even necessary.  I want my children to have good habits, healthy teeth, and clean hands before they eat.

But, the questioning leaves me tired.
Tired of asking.
Tired of being a task master.
Tired of this checking-up-on-them aspect of motherhood,
and wanting to spend less time managing,
more time parenting,
building our relationship
and creating warm memories.

  2. I know. I wish I could be the 'nice mom'. But it is a mix of truth and mercy, just like Jesus demonstrated. We must make him so weary.

  5. Oh my gosh, have you been peering into my life? I think so. I am the task master these days. My poor kids. So thankful for His grace!
