Simply Sewing

Probably because I have no clue...
Definitely because I have no expectations...

I am having fun playing with patterns and colors,
matching and mixing textiles to make something.

Like a toddler happily learning to walk,
I am learning the art of sewing.

And since, it is an art form to me,
I feel free to try,
to express,
to learn,
to do,
to make,
and to enjoy.

It is quite simply ~ a pleasure to sew.

And it is my 'simple pleasure' to share with you today.
The 'creation' pictured in this post is the first of four doll blankets I intend to make this year...one for each daughter and one for each niece.

  14. I laughed at "no clue" and smiled and nodded at "no expectations". I think you hit on the key to the pleasure. You just let yourself have the fun that it ought to be to do something creative.

And look... it turned out beautifully! I have very little sewing skill. I admire those who do.

I do believe you might be a natural.

  18. Lovely post. I'm not a seamstress by any stretch of the imagination, but what little sewing I do brings with it a warm feeling of ... well, it's hard to explain. It's comforting and nostalgic (brings back memories of my childhood), and all-in-all a unique simple pleasure.

    Your project is just charming.
