What word or phrase could I choose to identify my husband? I began to ponder what I could call Jerry, my husband, if I used a word other than his name.
“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” - William Shakespeare (Romeo and Juliet) |
What would be one word or phrase to identify my husband?
Would the meaning of his name work?
"Spear Thrower" is definitely manly, but perhaps a bit over the top.
Should I identify him by his occupation?
"The Scientist" seems too akin to "The MAD Scientist."
No thank you.
Should I identify him by his skills?
"Mr. Fix-It" seems too similar to a cartoon character.
That would never do.
Should I identify him by physical attributes or identifying characteristics?
I am pretty sure my in-laws would not appreciate their son being called "The Tattooed Man."
What is left?
His passion ~ music ~ specifically, drumming.
If I had to pick just one name or phrase to identify my husband with, then it would be connected to his drumming. He loves to play the drums.
When I was first getting to know him, I noticed he drummed all the time
on anything and everything.
His rhythm is outstanding
and playing a drum is a huge identifying part of him.
It is his passion,
his identity.
It is him.
"The Drummer"
Yes, that would be the name I would call him if you didn't already know his first name.
Then again, you never know what may show up in a post.
Love it! Very sweet post.
ReplyDeleteVery handsome hubby, btw. :)
Well-chosen name, Dorie. I look forward to hearing more about The Drummer.
ReplyDeleteMe, well, it took us past due dates to name our children. Three days to name our cat. I cannot be creative when it comes to blogging and names.
That is so funny! I love Tattooed Man, that cracks me up. He is a crazy drummer so that certainly fits.
