The Simple Woman's Daybook for January

FOR TODAY ~ January 6, 2001

Outside my window...the sun shines brightly, but the air is crisp with a frigid temperature.  There is little noise from the neighboring houses as most people are inside their homes staying warm.

I am thinking...about dinner.  'Did I start the main dish soon enough or will dinner be later than expected?'

I am thankful for...the peace of Jesus within trials.

From the learning rooms...we are back into the swing of our school year routine after taking a break over Christmas.

From the kitchen...comes the aroma of our dinner cooking in the crock pot.  I will soon be fixing the side dishes, and might make some corn bread as well.

I am wearing...the color green (one of my favorite colors).

I am creating...snow themed decorations and party favors with my daughter for her upcoming birthday party.

I am going...to spend the evening with my family at home.

I am reading...in Genesis about Abraham.  My family and our church family are reading straight through the Bible this year.  I am also reading Homemade Hospitality, written by Barbara Sims.  This book is challenging me to think in broader terms about hospitality and offering it to more people in different ways.

I am hoping...to be able to start some sewing or hand work projects this winter.

I am hearing...children playing and laughing together in the living room.

Around the house...winter decorations like a few snowmen figurines and snowflakes have been placed in each common room for the winter months.

One of my favorite things...is decorating cakes for my husband's and children's birthdays.

A few plans for the rest of the week: include finishing school lessons, run a few errands, and spend time with my family.

Here is picture for a thought I am sharing...
