Forever Summer Green

As we are on the cusp of fall foliage, I am reminded often of the brevity of seasonal green leaves.  Though beautiful, their time in our area, is almost completed.  Soon vivid hues will replace the green.  Our trees will be dotted with sunny oranges, fire reds, and golden yellows.  While the beauty of the autumn season is hard to top, my mind keeps returning to this portion of Jeremiah 17 we read recently:

and I hope that as I move throughout the seasons in my life, my 'leaves will remain green,' as I seek to follow Him all the remaining days of my life.

Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD
And whose trust is the LORD.
For he is like a tree planted by the water,
That extends its roots by a stream
And will not fear when the heat comes;
But its leaves will be green,
And it will not be anxious in a year of drought
Nor cease to yield fruit.
