A Reason for Self Control

"Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things.
They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable."

Though I know Paul was not referring to football,
these cleats reminded me of this particular verse.
After much preparation, self control, and endurance during practices,
athletes willingly undergo toil, exercise, and strain during a game.

Should we not approach our days with just as much
preparation, endurance, and self control
that we may persue our callings in a manner worthy of the prize?

This post is the eighteenth in a series of posts pondering the fruit of the Spirit.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness, and self control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23
