Reading Bumper Stickers

We travel these highways and interstates often.  First as college students driving to New England to visit the Drummer's family. Then, as newly weds living in Massachusetts, we rode the very same roads to rural Pennsylvania farm lands to see my folks.  Now we travel the same roads in reverse toward New Hampshire and our family in the northeast.

Needless to say, the sights along the road are very familiar.  And, we can get a bit bored.  Often we seek out the humorous sign or bumper sticker to lighten the monotony of car travel.

This past trip was no exception.

We found a momentary chuckle while reading a bumper sticker that said
"I started with nothing, and have most of it left."

How we laughed, but the giggles subsided the following Sunday when I read in the church bulletin a verse that reminded me of this very bumper sticker.

"For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it either."
I Timothy 6:7

Reading the surrounding verses, I find a message of contentment, and I wonder... What are trying to tell me Lord?

Then, the sermon began.  A message entitled "Truly Satisfied" from Philippians 4:4-9.  And, I hear His word spoken, explaining that contentment is found only in the Lord.  His wisdom and peace brought home in my heart.
