Dear Lord,
You have given each person many blessings, and my life is no different.
In a country of many material blessings, and general wealth, our family lives.
It is another blessing from You.
Yet our culture prizes material possessions, promoting greed
and lies for material gains that far exceed real need.
It is not always easy to turn from these wants and perceived needs.
Forgive me for the times when I fail, believing the lie of 'needing a want.'
Please protect me and my family from this selfishness, and
help us to live in a counter-culture way by seeking not more things,
but instead, ways to help those with less.
Open our eyes to the immediate needs around us
and show us how we can give of our time and resources.
And, may we give as freely as we have received.
