By now, many have heard parts of her story. Yes, Abby Johnson was a firm believer in pro-choice. Yes, she made some poor decisions. (Who hasn’t?) And, yes, she was employed by a facility that regularly offered abortions. However, as with all autobiographical writings (in my opinion), a reader needs to begin without expectations and prejudices. Making facts and opinions of a memoir fit into presumptions that may or may not be true is an injustice. After all, how can a reader hear, absorb, and truly understand what the speaker is trying to communicate when judgment has already been passed. Unplanned should be read from a grace perspective, because throughout it all that is what is truly communicated. Johnson offers a completely honest and humble assessment of her decisions and actions. As her story unfolded, I saw the hand of God working through others to reach out to her in His love. In the end, it was His grace and acceptance being communicated through these individuals that God used to draw her closer to Him and into a meaningful relationship with Him. This book is a testimony to the transforming grace of God.
It would be unfair of me not to include a reader’s warning for this book: The procedure of an abortion is clearly divulged with specific details.

I saw this book and it definitely intrigued me, though I haven't read it. Lots to think about, huh?
